Simulation Instructor

Responsibilities

  1. Developing Simulation Scenarios: Design, develop, and implement simulation scenarios that reflect real-world situations relevant to the target audience’s learning objectives.
  2. Facilitating Simulation Sessions: Lead simulation sessions, guiding participants through scenarios, providing instructions, and ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment.
  3. Training and Orienting Participants: Train participants on simulation equipment, procedures, and protocols, ensuring they understand how to effectively engage in the simulation exercises.
  4. Providing Feedback and Debriefing: Offer constructive feedback to participants during and after simulation sessions, facilitating debriefing sessions to help learners reflect on their performance and identify areas for improvement.
  5. Maintaining Simulation Equipment: Ensure that simulation equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and in good working condition. Troubleshoot technical issues as they arise.
  6. Updating Curriculum: Collaborate with subject matter experts to update simulation curriculum and scenarios to reflect changes in best practices, guidelines, or regulations.

Requirements

  1. Education: A bachelor’s degree is usually the minimum requirement, although some positions may prefer or require a master’s degree or higher in a relevant field such as nursing, healthcare education, instructional design, or simulation technology.

  2. Experience: Experience working in a related field, such as healthcare (for healthcare simulation instructors), emergency response, aviation, or military training, is often preferred.

  3. Skills:
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for effectively conveying instructions, providing feedback, and facilitating debriefing sessions.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are important for developing simulation scenarios, maintaining equipment, and keeping accurate records.
    • Empathy and interpersonal skills to create a supportive learning environment and provide constructive feedback to participants.
