Introduction
The webinar, hosted by Maverick Simulation Solutions a Platinum Partner of KeyShot in India and an authorized Rhino reseller brought together industry experts to discuss KeyShot’s latest updates. The session featured Geet Ghai from Maverick Simulation Solutions (Software Sales), Kanika Chahal (Director and Co-Founder), and Shinsuke Ban (Territory Manager- APAC) KeyShot Japan, who shared important insights into licensing changes, new product features, and customer support initiatives.
Shift from Perpetual to Subscription Licenses
A major highlight of the session was the announcement that KeyShot has officially discontinued perpetual licenses, with the exception of government and military organizations that operate under strict security policies. Going forward, only annual subscription licenses will be available.
The subscription model brings several benefits: users are always on the latest version without the hassle of managing license files, licenses can be used across up to three devices per user, and organizations with five or more licenses can take advantage of a license distribution tool. This change simplifies license management and fosters smoother collaboration between design, marketing, and production teams.
Introducing KeyShot Studio Professional 2025
Another key announcement was the launch of KeyShot Studio Professional 2025 in March 2025. This new version offers improved performance and introduces innovative features that enhance rendering efficiency. One of the standout features is Panel Light, which functions as a built-in softbox-style lighting system within KeyShot. By simulating a professional photo studio, it allows users to achieve photorealistic renders without the need for physical setups, dramatically reducing both time and cost.
Crossgrade Offers for Existing Customers
For current perpetual license holders, KeyShot is providing attractive crossgrade options. Node-locked perpetual licenses can be exchanged for subscription licenses on a one-to-one basis, with tiered discounts offered for the first three years. Customers with floating or enterprise perpetual licenses under active maintenance have the option to convert a single license into two or even three subscriptions. Enterprise crossgrades are particularly beneficial, as they also include access to essential plugins such as KeyShotWeb, Network Rendering, and the NX plugin if required.
Support and Training for Indian Customers
Maverick Simulation Solutions emphasized its role in providing strong customer support within India. Local Level 1 support ensures that issues are addressed promptly before being escalated to KeyShot’s global team if necessary. Every new license comes with basic training covering setup, rendering workflows, hotkeys, and troubleshooting common errors. Additionally, specialized training sessions can be arranged on request to help teams get the most out of new features introduced in KeyShot 2025.
Highlights from the Q&A Session
The interactive Q&A session clarified several customer concerns. For instance, a single floating license can now be converted into three subscriptions, each tied to separate email IDs and usable on three devices, enabling up to nine device activations in total. Renewal terms remain straightforward while there is no special discount for early renewals, subscription dates can be adjusted to align with existing license expiries. Customers also learned that upgrading to KeyShot 2025 is seamless for subscription users, who can simply download the new version and log in with their existing credentials.
